Edward Homer Producer/Director Inside Edge Communications Inc.  

Edward Homer has been working in the broadcast television industry since 1980. Graduating from the BCIT television program in 1984, Homer has worn many different hats in the industry: freelance director, cameraman and editor for the Knowledge Network from 82 to 84, ENG/EFP editor at CKVU Vancouver from 84 to 86 and EFP editor at CBC Vancouver working on network programs such as “Witness” and “On the Road Again”.

Since 1995 Homer has been producing and directing documentaries for the broadcast and non-broadcast markets. His work has appeared on CBC Newsworld, The Discovery Channel, The Documentary Channel, Outdoor Life Network, Vision TV, Knowledge Network, Access Alberta , Saskatchewan Television and PBS. Ecofilms Inc. distributes Homer's titles all over the world to broadcasters, libraries, post-secondary institutions and high schools.

Film festival screenings include: "Sea to Sky Film Festival", Garibaldi BC, "Kendal Mountain Film Festival", UK, "World Developmental Film Festival Tour", Vancouver Island, BC,"Amtec Media Festival", BC, "Environmental Film Festival", Pretoria, South Africa and "The Green Film Festival" Vancouver BC. "Whistler Museum" currently screening "Whistler Mountain: from Wilderness to World Class" and "Sasktoon Museum" screening "Grand Old Ride".

Director/Producer credits include:

“Wildwood – One Tree at a Time” - profile of selective forester Merve Wilkinson and his Wildwood forest. Recipient of the Order of Canada and Order of BC, the program was produced for the CBC. Awarded the Bronze Plaque, Columbus International Film Fest and Finalist, Pretoria Environmental Film Fest. Wildwood has been screened at the World Development Film Festival on Vancouver Island , BC and the Green Festival in Vancouver , BC .

“Snow Sense” – a look at the dangers of back-country skiing, filmed at Whistler Mountain . Produced for the Outdoor Life Network, SCN, Access Alberta and Knowledge Network . Screened at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival in the UK .  

“ Vancouver Island Marmots" – A Critically Endangered Species” – is a profile of the recovery team working in the mountains of Vancouver Island to save a species from extinction. Produced for the Discovery Channel the program has also been seen on SCN.

  “The Eco – Explorers Series” produced for the educational market, received an Award of Merit from the Association for Media Technology in Canada and is recommended by the Ministry of Education in Alberta and Saskatchewan . The four part series has also been well received by publications such as Green Teacher, Library Journal and Resource Links.
