True to the Latin root definition of eco, Eco Films are about home: our natural and human communities. They are stories from Western Canada – mainly the BC coast.

Created and produced by Inside Edge Films Inc. , Eco Films cover a wide range of subjects ranging from documentaries on ecoforestry to Canadian history to backyard nature watching.

Inside Edge has directed and produced all of the films listed on this website. We take great pride in making documentaries that are well crafted, informative and entertaining for public education audiences (kindergarten to college/university level), home enjoyment and the broadcast media.

Inside Edge Films Inc. was founded in 1994 by award-winning filmmaker, Edward Homer. He's had over 20 years of experience as a director, cameraman and editor, and has worked in network television, including seven years with CBC.

Many of the documentaries made by Inside Edge Films have been broadcasted on television in Canada or screened at world film festivals. Several have won awards and other recognition. Government education departments in Alberta and Saskatchewan have recommended many of these titles.

Reviews and recommendations we've received for some of our films:

"Wildwood - One Tree at a Time" produced with the CBC in 1996 received a bronze plaque from the 45th Columbus International Film Festival and was selected as a finalist at the Third Annual Environmental Film Festival in Pretoria South Africa.

The ski and snowboard safety documentary, "Snow Sense" has been seen on the Outdoor Life Network, Access Alberta and the Knowledge Network.

Video Librarian Magazine (May 2000) recommends and rates "The Secret Forest" (of the Eco Explorer series) 3out of 4 stars – “while there are many similar programs in the crowded forest of nature and conservation films, this program stands above”
